HDD mud recycling system is the drilling fluid process system similar as oil well drilling mud system
Mud Recycling system contains shale shaker, mud cleaner or desander / desilter, centrifugal pump, mud tank, mud agitator, etc. The mud recycling system normally used for horizontal directional drilling ( HDD ) or coal bed methan ( CBM ) with compact design. There are many manufacturers in China but different manufacturer do different design. Many of them focus on oil and gas industry solids control system design, so they supply mud recycling system for HDD or CBM with an oil and gas brain, that’s good as they are same working procedure but HDD or CBM designed mud recycling system normally need special design, many supplier just keep an oil & gas brain and may ignore the different working habit and conditions.

AIPU Solids Control worked a lot in oil and gas industry, we had an
brain for oil and gas only but find many client in HDD / CBM for
different idears of tank design and arrangement. CBM and HDD
drilling normally require very compact design for fast installation
and movement. Such as the shale shaker for oil and gas drilling
normally too long and the HDD / CBM shaker need shorter to sit on
tank width, so shaker can be delivery together with tank without
moving. There need keep an eye when designed the whole system and
keep sure total width and height not exceeding local transport
limit.
1. There is a drill pit at each side of drilling hole, a set of vertical slurry pump will set on top of mud pit for feeding shale shaker. The shale shaker screen will separate drilling cuttings and discharge out, fluids part will drop into sand trap through screen hole.
2. 1 or 2 or 3 sets of desander cyclone sit after shale shaker, one
set of centrifugal pump will feed desander cyclong for second phase
separation, solids out of desander will be discharge to shaker
screen or cutting box directly and fluids over flow from desander
will flow into desander compartment.
3. A quantity of desilter cyclones will sit after desander for fine
solids separation, solids out of desilter will discharge to shaker
screen or cuttings box, fluids over from desilter will drop into
desilter compartment.
4. A mixing pump sit on tank skid for drilling mud transfer and
feed mud into mud hopper for new mud remix by new chemicals. The
mixing hopper can sit on top of tank or tank skid as per client’s
demand.
Many mud recycling system supplier has standard design of mud
recycling system, this is same with AIPU solids Control. But we
supply customized design with standard equipment and tank design
depending on client request. This is very important cause different
drilling site may need different footprint, tank and compartment
design or transport request. AIPU will designed based on our

Mud reclaiming recycling mixing system is designed for mud
recycling of trenchless. Such as tunneling shield, HDD, and
pilings. It can help reduce costs and improve construction
efficiency significantly.
The whole system consists of a mud recovery treatment unit and a
mud preparation unit.
Before construction, using mud mixing device to blend freshwater
with mud material, achieving the purpose of mud preparation;
Using a mud pump to supply the prepared slurry to the wellhead;
Return of waste mud from the wellhead is pumped to the shale shaker
in the mud treatment unit, and the waste mud is removed through the
mud shale shaker to remove a large amount of the waste solid
particles. The treated slurry liquid will continue to be supplied
to mud cleaner through the sand pump, after treatment the liquid
can meet user requirements. Because after this system treated,
solid particles content in the slurry liquid is 75 microns.
